Kid Butterfly Print Tiered Skirt

LOVE this skirt, love the fabric, the sizing, the style ALL of it! I would purchase it in every color and pattern they made.

My 9-year-old daughter who is super slim, tiny-waisted, and of slightly-below-average height still wears size M (7/8) in most clothing from the popular big box store for kids' clothing as well as other popular children's clothing stores unless I need to size up for length. For a very baggy fit, she can get away with a 12. I know to size up in Carters (she currently wears a 10 legging in carters, and she prefers a 10/12 in Carters tees so they aren't form-fitting, but they can sometimes be much too long in the sleeves and torso), so I sized up to a 12 in this skirt. Holy smokes, this skirt is scandalously short! Even the waistband is very, very small, even if it does have good stretch due to the style. I don't think it will last more than a season because of the length that barely covers her butt, and she will definitely have to wear shorts under it because this thing is shorter than the skorts she owns. For the price of this thin, super short, tight-waisted skirt, I'm thoroughly disappointed and wish I had thought to exchange it for a 14 before washing it. But seriously? A 14 for a skinny 9-year-old?! Ridiculous, Carters!
