community

As the leading brand of baby and young children’s apparel, Carter’s is committed to ensuring that all children feel safe, happy, and nurtured. Giving back to the community is integral to the corporate culture at Carter’s.

Our corporate social responsibility programs focus on charitable organizations whose missions align with our own, to support the well being of children through educational, health, cultural, and humanitarian aid programs. A few of our current programs include:

1.   Haiti Relief – Save the Children
On January 12th, 2010 a catastrophic earthquake hit Haiti causing massive loss of life and destruction of infrastructure. Significant humanitarian efforts are underway, and Carter’s supports to those efforts.

There are many charities doing great work in Haiti. Carter’s has chosen to donate $25,000 to the well-established organization Save the Children, which has a long history of helping children in need.

Save the Children has a track record of helping Haiti’s poorest children and families since 1985. They provide critical medical equipment and water, and they are doing things like creating child-friendly spaces within the temporary living camps to provide children a safe environment during this crisis. If you’d like to learn more about what Save the Children is doing in Haiti, please visit www.savethechildren.org.

2.   Bert’s Big Adventure
Bert's Big Adventure (BBA) is a non-profit organization that provides underprivileged children who have chronic or terminal illnesses the experience of a magical weekend at Walt Disney World with their families. Children must be 5-12 years old and live in The Bert Show radio listening area.

In 2010, Carter’s is a Gold Sponsor, giving $50,000 to BBA. This donation will help a very special group of 13 children and their families go on this magical trip, as well as help provide ongoing support to all the families who have made the trip to Disney with the organization.

In addition, Carter’s will be the presenting sponsor of BBA’s new Fairy Godmother program. This program ensures that each BBA child in the hospital gets a few hours of special treatment each day from a volunteer Fairy Godmother. Whether playing games, getting a pedicure, or just allowing parents a few hours to run errands while their sick child is occupied, this program will provide much needed support and a little fun for families in need.

3.   Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
Volunteer opportunities are available at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing the best health care possible to all children, regardless of financial means. Carter’s supports CHOA through corporate volunteer events, helping CHOA to realize its belief that "every child needs a friend."

4.   Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – Light The Night
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education, and patient services, and to improving the quality of life of patients and their families. Their Light The Night event brings people together to bring hope to people battling these cancers.

Carter’s employees began supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk event in 1999. Since then, Carter’s and its employees have raised over $1,643,000 to support the work of hundreds of the world’s best and brightest researchers in their search for better therapies and cures for blood cancer.
